How to Share the Gospel

The key to confidence when sharing the Gospel is understanding that planting a seed is just as beneficial as having someone accept Christ immediately!

Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 3:5-8, [5] After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God's servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. [6] I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. [7] It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is the God makes the seed grow. [8] The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.

Steps to take:
1) Pray for the Holy Spirit to speak through you. It may not be perfect but it will be from the heart.
2) Let God's love illuminate through you. Smile, speak softly, and with undeniable truth.
3) Ask questions. Maybe this person follows another religion, and that's ok. Don't let it deter you.
4) Share your testimony. If you don't have a life-altering testimony, that's ok too. Jesus's presence and good works in your life is enough and His good works can be simple.
5) Tell His story with this simple acronym: G.O.S.P.E.L., created by www.dare2share.org

    • G - God created the world and soon after creation, sin was born by the lies of Satan. God gave us free will to make our own choices
    • O - Our sins separate us from God who is Righteous and Holy.
    • S - Sins cannot be forgiven or removed by good deeds, no matter how pure you think you are, we all sin.
    • P - Paying the price for our sin, Jesus, God in human form and free of sin, was crucified and resurrected
    • E - Everyone who trusts in Jesus alone, has the promise of eternal life.
    • L - Life with Jesus can start now

6) Let the conversation guide you! Do you feel compelled to ask if you can pray with/for this person? Do you sense resistance or anger? Do you sense a softening? Remember that planting the seed is considered good works!
